Important Notice

Re- Longford Circuit courts scheduled for
Longford on Wednesday January 27th,
Mullingar on Thursday afternoon January 28th and
Longford on Tuesday February 2nd

To whom it concerns

Please be advised, that as a result of an attendee at court in Mullingar on Tuesday last the 19th inst proving positive for Covid 19, it has become necessary to adjourn the above-mentioned courts. This course of action has been necessitated by the requirement to comply with public health guidelines and to ensure that all persons who were deemed close contacts of the said attendee are allowed to isolate for a period of 14 days from the date of contact. The said 14 day period will have expired on February 3rd.

Judge Fergus will sit in Mullingar on Wednesday the 27th inst at 10.30 a.m. purely for the purposes of making the following orders:

1.Adjourning the entire list for Wednesday the 27th to Longford on Wednesday, February 17th
except for the following cases which are adjourned to  Mullingar on Wednesday February 3rd at  the following times:

DPP v K. L.    (Bail Application) @ 10.00 a.m.
DPP v James Cranny (Sentence) @ 10.45 a.m.

2. Adjourning the entire list for Thursday afternoon the 28th to Longford on  Wednesday, February 17th
save for the following case which is adjourned to Mullingar on Wednesday February 3rd at the following time:

DPP v Nathan Doherty (finalization of sentence) @ 11.30 a.m.

3. Adjourning the entire list for February 2nd to Longford on Wednesday, February 17th
save for the following cases which are to be adjourned to Mullingar on Wednesday February 3rd at the following times:

DPP v Alicia Edosa (for mention) @11.40 a.m.
DPP v Lee Goodchild (for arraignment/bail application) @12.00 noon.

In order to keep the numbers of people in the courtroom to an absolute minimum, accused persons who are on bail are not required to attend court and legal practitioners are requested to make their representations via email or letter in order to avoid the necessity of attending court. It is only in the limited number of cases that are specifically at this stage scheduled for a hearing, that practitioners and litigants should be in attendance.

It is hoped to list as many cases and district court appeals  that have been adjourned from the current sessions of the criminal circuit court in Longford as a result of the Covid 19 health emergency to a special  two weeks sessions commencing on Wednesday,  February 17th.    Practitioners and litigants are advised to check the legal diary towards the end of next week  when the schedule for the additional sessions commencing on February 17th should be published. The feasibility of those sessions will be very much dependent on the prevailing public health guidelines.

Your cooperation and understanding is very much appreciated.

Dated the 22nd of January 2021

Judge Keenan Johnson
